Maintaining strong, silky, and shiny hair in winter can be a real challenge. Hair loss, itchy scalp, and dandruff are just some common issues associated with the winter season.

Why does this happen? Winter air is cold and dry, meaning there is less moisture in the air compared to summer when temperatures are higher. This is further exacerbated by winter winds and significant temperature differences between heated indoor spaces and outdoor air.

During the winter months, it's important to avoid excessive and prolonged hair washing with excessively hot water. Hot water can dry out the scalp and cause flaking, while hair becomes dry and brittle. The best protection for skin and hair against dryness in winter is care with oil-based and wax-based products.

Regular scalp massage with oil, which also contains essential oils, will nourish, nurture, and strengthen hair follicles. It is also recommended to apply oil to the ends of the hair, as this will strengthen the hair shaft, increase moisture, and provide protection.

As an interesting fact, ancient Inuits avoided washing their hair on the coldest days for fear of washing away the protective layer of oils that shielded them from the cold. This wisdom remains relevant today, as oils prove to be effective hair protection in winter months.
